Usuki Port Park|Free Seaside Playground for Young Kids

Usuki Minato Ryokuchi Park seaside playground and lawn – free, family-friendly spot for young kids in Oita. Family-Friendly Spots

Usuki Port Park (official name: Usuki Minato Ryokuchi Park) is a free seaside family park located about 40–50 minutes from Oita City by car. With toddler-friendly playgrounds, a wide grassy lawn, ocean views, and safe rubber flooring, it offers a relaxed and stress-free experience for families traveling with young children.

✨ Why Families Love This Park

  • Completely free – playgrounds, lawn, and parking
  • Kids were excited even before entering the park
  • Multiple playground structures mainly for toddlers and preschoolers
  • Wide grassy area for running, ball games, and badminton
  • Beautiful sea view with ferries and boats arriving and departing
  • You can also see trains passing nearby — a big hit for kids who love vehicles
  • Pufferfish-shaped trampoline with a roof
  • Soft rubber flooring for safer play
  • Flat, stroller-friendly paths

🧒 Best Age Range

The playground equipment is mainly designed for toddlers and preschool-age children. Older kids can still enjoy the lawn area, but most attractions focus on younger ages.

🌊 Our Real Experience

Since the ferry terminal is right next to the park, our kids loved watching the ships come in. Trains also pass nearby, making this a great spot for children who enjoy watching vehicles. They were already excited before we even entered the playground.

We visited in winter, and once the sun dipped behind the nearby hills, the temperature dropped quickly due to the sea breeze. If you visit in colder months, especially late afternoon, warm clothing is essential.

🚻 Facilities & Convenience

  • Parking: Free and located close to the playground
  • Toilets: Clean, modern, and easy to reach
